Case study 01 - the origin story

Whitefish, Montana

May 2025 - 9 entrepreneurs, EO forum scale - 4 days, 3 nights - The Lodge at Whitefish Lake

The brief: a once-in-a-lifetime adventure with deep connection, in a place none of them would have designed for themselves. What came back was the retreat the method was extracted from.

Hats before hotel rooms

Ninety minutes after wheels down in Kalispell, the group stood in a western outfitter being fitted for custom cowboy hats. By the time the Clydesdales pulled the wagon out that afternoon, charcuterie in reach, nine strangers to the state looked like a crew. The hats never came off for the rest of the trip. That is the keepsake-anchor pattern, and this is where it was proven.

A national park, privately

A full private day through Glacier National Park with expert guides: Lake McDonald, the Continental Divide at Marias Pass, Two Medicine Valley, Trick Falls. Lunch handled, tea poured, lodge pickup and drop. One anchor, one day, nothing stacked against it.

The island with no road

Day three ran a split register on purpose: a private alpine coaster hour in the morning for speed, then four hours on Wild Horse Island in Flathead Lake for stillness: wildlife, scenic trails, a guided hike with picnic lunches packed by the lodge. Adventure and transformation in the same day, sequenced so neither crowded the other.

The night that made the group

After lakeside fine dining on the final full night, the schedule said only: group experience. Legacy rituals, fireside storytelling, stargazing, a ceremony the group chose for itself. Reflection was on the itinerary at 9:00 PM, deliberately, and it is the part nobody has stopped talking about.

The exit, designed

No checkout-and-scatter. The last morning was an elevated lakeside picnic breakfast, then an optional closing circle before the shuttle. The farewell was its own course, which is now pattern twelve of the method.

The order, in hindsight

Run through the assessment after the fact, this group profiles mid-band: comfort held high, risk held moderate, deep nature and culture, early nights. The Tasting Table, intensity five. The same method, pointed at a different group, produces the Mexico City retreat instead. That is the point of measuring first.
